How to get a privacy policy URL for your app
Turn your app’s privacy policy into a public link, check it before submitting, and use it in App Store Connect or Google Play.
Checked against Apple and Google documentation on October 8, 2026.
What the stores ask for
Apple requires a Privacy Policy URL for every app. Your answers in App Privacy also need to account for data collected by integrated third parties. The URL points to the policy; it does not complete those answers for you. Apple’s App Privacy reference
Google Play requires a privacy policy in Play Console and in the app, including for apps that do not collect sensitive data. The URL must be public, active, available without geographic restrictions, and lead to a document visitors cannot edit. Google does not accept a PDF for this URL. Keep your policy consistent with your Data safety answers. Google Play’s User Data policy
1. Gather the facts before writing
List your app’s features and SDKs: sign-in, analytics, crash reports, payments, notifications, ads and cloud storage. For each one, check what leaves the device, who receives it, why it is needed, and how long it is kept. An app with no account system can still send diagnostic data through an SDK.
Google’s policy calls for identifying the app or developer, a privacy contact, data use and sharing, secure handling, retention and deletion practices. Check its separate account-deletion requirements if users create accounts. Check the full requirements for your app
Use those facts to write your policy or review one you already have. A template cannot determine what your app does, and hosting a policy does not certify legal compliance.
2. Publish the document at a public address
In StorePal, open the privacy policy editor, enter the app name, and choose an address such as storepal.app/your-app/privacy. Paste your existing policy or replace every prompt in the outline. Preview the content before continuing.
You can prepare the draft without an account. When it is ready, sign in, review it, and publish. Copy the resulting URL. Free accounts include up to three apps; you can add other pages later.
Prepare my privacy policy URL3. Check the page as a visitor
Open the copied link in a private browser window while signed out. It should show the policy itself, with your app’s name, readable text and a working contact method. Look for any remaining template prompts. Test it on a phone as well.
A dashboard editor URL, a local file and an account-only document cannot serve as your public policy page. Share the published address ending in /privacy, not the address containing /dashboard.
4. Add the URL to your store listing and app
In App Store Connect, select your app and use its App Privacy section to enter the Privacy Policy URL. Complete the data disclosures separately. Use Apple’s current field reference when checking the submission.
In Google Play Console, add the public URL to the privacy policy field and provide access to the policy inside your app. Review Data safety answers whenever an SDK or feature changes. Google’s current requirements
When your practices change, update the policy from My apps in StorePal. Keeping the app’s address unchanged lets you update the text without replacing the link in every store listing.
